Past Video Work Update

So as you can see from the home page, I added a “Past Video Work” section. I thought I should explain what that is. Even though my goal is to get into web development, the difficulty of getting a job in the field right now has forced me to look for employment in other fields for the moment. As I write this I am applying for a job as a Broadcast Technician. As you can imagine, they require experience in video editing. Thing is, while I mostly focus on programming right now, I do have experience in video production.

The Start of Odd-Stop Media

I have a company called Odd-Stop Media that started as a media-centric social media marketing agency. Essentially I created videos, photography, and graphic design for advertising and marketing for small businesses. This started in 2016 and I stopped doing media production in 2020 due to the pandemic.

That was when I decided to start learning programming as the pandemic created a bunch of jobs in software development, specifically web development as everyone began working from home. But I still continued doing some photography, graphic design, and even video production up until 2025.

Some Highlights

Odd-Stop Media Commercial

So first I want to highlight the commercial I made for my own business. It was just a motion graphic video created with Adobe After Effects. I was able to get a voice over from a good friend Grecia and the rest was just my editing chops. It was custom animated using keystone markers. It wasn’t until later that I discovered tools like Mister Horse presets that would simplify a lot of After Effect animations.

Luz - Respirar Music Video

The second video is a music video I created for a local band called “Luz”. This was a very involved gig as I did the pre-production, production, and editing. The actors were casted with the help of the band. It was great fun to direct and shoot this with my friends and the band. It’s not everyday you get hired for a music video when you market yourself towards small businesses.

Eagle Grocery store front

The mini-documentary of “Eagle Grocery” a.k.a. “La tienda de los venados” from Eagle Pass, TX is another video I wanted to highlight. I took on this job pro-bono to get local recognition for my business. Which actually worked to get leads and some contract jobs with the City of Eagle Pass. I had help planning the shoot from Joe Cruz, the Main Street Program manager during 2016.

Last Words

The website is not done yet. I still plan to add another section to the home page and make a dedicated page for videos. So stay tuned!
